Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Dinner2Night ("we", "us", or "the app") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Dinner2Night iOS application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your email address and a display name. We use a third-party authentication provider (Supabase Auth) to manage your account credentials. We do not see or store your password in plain text.

Household and inventory data

The Service stores the grocery inventory, shopping lists, recipes, meal preferences, and household membership data that you and your household members enter or generate. This data is associated with your account.

Photos and receipts

When you take photos of receipts, groceries, or your fridge, those images are uploaded to our backend (Supabase Storage) so we can extract structured data from them. We retain images so you can review past entries. You can delete individual photos at any time from within the app.

Device and usage information

We collect basic technical information such as device model, iOS version, app version, and crash diagnostics to keep the Service running. We do not use third-party advertising or behavioral tracking SDKs.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide the core features of the Service: parsing receipts and photos into inventory, generating meal suggestions, syncing data between household members.
  • To send transactional emails such as household invitations and account-related notices.
  • To improve the Service, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. AI processing

To turn your receipt photos, fridge photos, and natural-language requests into structured kitchen data and meal suggestions, we send the relevant content to Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic processes the content under their own commercial terms and does not, per their policy, use API inputs to train their models. We send only what is needed for the request and we do not send your account credentials.

4. Where your data lives

Your data is stored with Supabase (Postgres database and object storage), hosted in the United States. Photos are stored in Supabase Storage under access controls tied to your household. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.

5. Sharing

We share data with the following categories of service providers, strictly to operate the Service:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and storage hosting.
  • Anthropic — AI inference for receipt parsing, photo recognition, and meal suggestions.
  • Apple — App Store distribution and push notification delivery.
  • Email delivery — for transactional emails such as household invites.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers.

6. Household sharing

When you join or create a household, the other members of that household can see the inventory, shopping lists, meal plans, and photos uploaded to that household. Removing yourself from a household stops further sharing but does not retroactively remove data you previously contributed to that household.

7. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it to meet a legal obligation, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

8. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing the address below. Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. California's CCPA, the EU's GDPR), you may have additional rights such as the right to data portability and the right to object to certain processing.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
